This is the finger my wife broke

This is the finger my wife broke.

This is the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is the fingernail all crumpled and shorn,
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is the leaf one November morn,
That got in the fingernail all crumpled and shorn,
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is the leaf blower my wife had adorn
That blew the leaf one November morn,
That got in the fingernail all crumpled and shorn,
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is the motor it was so worn
That was in the leaf blower that she had adorn,
That blew the leaf one November morn,
That got in the fingernail all crumpled and shorn
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is my wife’s finger straight as the day she was born,
That got caught in the motor since it was so worn,
That was in the leaf blower that she had adorn
That blew the leaf that November morn,
That got in the fingernail all crumpled and shorn,
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

This is my wife all forlorn,
That once had a finger straight as the day she was born,
That got caught in the motor since it was so worn,
That was in the leaf blower that she had adorn,
That blew the leaf that November morn,
That got in the fingernail all crumpled and shorn,
That held the bacteria,
That caused the infection
That lay in the finger my wife broke.

There goes my career as a "Hand Model"!

I say: BEWARE LEAF BLOWERS!!! Hire someone else (with insurance) to do the yardwork--I'm sticking strictly to gardening from now on! Well...once I regain use of my middle finger.

Oh, somehow that doesn't sound right!

...On second thought, YEAH, it does!!!

This post brings to mind a classic STYX song:

Too much time on my hands, it's ticking away with my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands, it's hard to believe such a calamity
I've got too much time on my hands and it's ticking away from me
Too much time on my hands, too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

Yes, the pun is intended!!!

Wow! Who would have ever thought that I would get a Styx quote on this blog?
Domo Arigato! Mr. Roboto.
What next, the profound wisdom of REO Speedwagon?

I know, it's been scary. In fact, the same week I found out it was infected, a child in town had to be admitted to the hospital for the same thing--he was on intravenous drugs for 4 days! I was lucky--mine cleared up within 24 hours of starting the antibiotics.

I also remember when Rosie O'Donnell had to have surgery on her hand (and they were worried she might lose a finger) due to a staph infection after a manicure! YUCK!!!
